I. Americas Foundation and Identity
“A nation which does not remember what it was yesterday, does not know what it is today, nor what it is trying to do. We are trying to do a futile thing if we do not know where we came from or what we have been about.” Woodrow Wilson
Deu_32:7 Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations: ask thy father, and he will shew thee; thy elders, and they will tell thee. Deu 32:8 When the Most High divided their inheritance to the nations, When He separated the sons of Adam, He set the boundaries of the peoples According to the number of the children of Israel.
Why was America Founded?
In the 1500's, England broke away from the Catholic Church and formed the Church of England
If you were a citizen in England you could be persecuted or killed for being for the Catholic Church or for the Church of England, depending on who was King at the time
The Puritans separated from the churches in their local parishes where preaching was viewed as inadequate, hiring their own lecturers who were well-versed in reform theology. These lecturers were prosecuted by the monarch and Church of England officials.
The last straw may have been when King Charles I dissolved Parliament in 1629. This dissolution prevented Puritan leaders from working within the system to effect change and left them vulnerable to persecution.
Moderate Puritans chartered the Massachusetts Bay Colony in the same year. The New World represented both a refuge from persecution and an opportunity to establish a “Zion in the wilderness.” Puritans imagined their migration to the New World mirrored the Biblical story of Exodus.
II. America Seeks its' Independence
In 1776, we drafted the declaration of Independence declaring our independence from England and the British Crown
Declaration of Independence:
We hold these truths to be sacred & undeniable; that all men are created equal & independent, that from that equal creation they derive rights inherent & inalienable, among which are the preservation of life, & liberty, & the pursuit of happiness; ...
We were under horrible laws, tyrannical rule
We weren't able to pass laws necessary to our very survival
We were infiltrated by standing armies of British troops we had to house and feed destroying our economy
British soldiers could kill colonists and mock trials would be conducted with their innocence as a foregone conclusion
The 17th grievance was no taxation without representation
We fought the revolutionary war from 1775 until September 3, 1783 and defeated the British at Yorktown.
After we won our independence from Britain, our nation was formed with the constitution of the United States of America
Before we won our independence from Britain we could not print or distribute a bible except the Anglican bible printed for the Anglican State Church by Britain.
In 1782 we printed the first English bible after we won our independence and it was printed by the American Congress! FOR THE USE OF OUR SCHOOLS!
For 360 years we used the bible as the primary textbook for our schools
III. The Constitution is the document that forms our government
The Constitutional Convention - Convened from May 25 to September 17, 1787. It was signed on September 17, 1787.
“Well, Doctor, what have we got—a Republic or a Monarchy?” “A Republic, if you can keep it.” Benjamin Franklin
The United States is a Constitutional Republic, not a democracy
"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."
The Constitution established the 3 branches of Government and separation of powers: Executive, Legislative, and Judicial.
Bill of Rights: Rights come from God, they are unalienable - therefore our government should affirm these rights and it does
Every right presented in the Declaration of Independence was preached from the American pulpit prior to 1763.
Amendment I - Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
Amendment II "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
Amendment III - No Soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the Owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law.
The influence for the formation of the US and it's ideas came from a preacher named John Locke called: Two Treatises of Government
This book contains 1,500 scriptures regarding government and laid out the blueprint of our constitution
John Locke The Bible is one of the greatest blessings bestowed by God on the children of men. It has God for its author; salvation for its end, and truth without any mixture for its matter. It is all pure.
John Locke The end of law is not to abolish or restrain, but to preserve and enlarge freedom. For in all the states of created beings capable of law, where there is no law, there is no freedom.
IV. Consider our founding Fathers Faith
JOHN QUINCY ADAMS - Always vote for principle, though you may vote alone, and you may cherish the sweetest reflection that your vote is never lost.
JOHN QUINCY ADAMS - The highest, the transcendent glory of the American Revolution was this -- it connected, in one indissoluble bond, the principles of civil government with the precepts of Christianity.
JOHN QUINCY ADAMS - Posterity: you will never know how much it has cost my generation to preserve your freedom. I hope you will make good use of it.
JOHN QUINCY ADAMS - It is among the evils of slavery that it taints the very sources of moral principle. It establishes false estimates of virtue and vice: for what can be more false and heartless than this doctrine which makes the first and holiest rights of humanity to depend upon the color of the skin?
George Washington: "It is impossible to rightly govern the world without God and Bible."
“The propitious smiles of Heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right which Heaven itself has ordained”
"Make sure you are doing what God wants you to do---then do it with all your strength."
“What students would learn in American schools above all is the religion of Jesus Christ.” "It is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favors."
"No people can be bound to acknowledge the Invisible Hand which conducts the affairs of men more than the people of the United States. Every step by which they have advanced to the character of an independent nation seems to have been distinguished by some token of providential agency"
“I am sure that never was a people, who had more reason to acknowledge a Divine interposition in their affairs, than those of the United States; and I should be pained to believe that they have forgotten that agency, which was so often manifested during our Revolution, or that they failed to consider the omnipotence of that God who is alone able to protect them.”
Dr. Benjamin Rush: "If we can get Americans to read the Bible two things will happen:
1) They'll become Christians and figure out how to have a Personal Relationship with Jesus Christ [Personal Note: Amen to THAT], and
2) if Americans will obey what they read it will solve all our social problems."
Mulitiple Founders would read the Bible cover-to-cover once a year.
They were overwhelmingly disciples and followers of Jesus Christ
Origin of the Free Market system
1Ti 5:8 But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.
2Th 3:10 For even when we were with you, we commanded you this: If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat.
V. Question? How has this worked for our nation compared to others?
240 years under the same constitution
In that time we have fought 1 civil war
In that same time consider this:
France has had 15 different Governments in that same time period
Considering just the 20th century alone
In the 20th century
Afghanistan had 5 governments
Mexico had 4 governments
Poland has had 7 governments since 1921
Russia 4 governments since 1917
192 nations in The UN with 19 in war or civil war
The United States has the longest surviving form of government in the world.
Political Stability is not a natural state for a nation.
American Exceptionalism: We are the only nation in the world that doesn't have a revolution every 30 to 40 years!
The comparisons of our governments with those of Europe are like a comparison of heaven and hell –
The bible is the rock on which our republic rests…
After America became a nation, the whole world was totally shocked to see how quickly we became a great nation and a world power.
A Frenchman named Alexis DeTocquevillemoved to America in the mid 1830's to find out why America seemed to be so blessed
He wrote a book and this was his summary of America …
He traveled across the nation from city to village and found a people of strong Christian faith and an active church that influenced every sector of society - churches ministering to and caring for the poor.
For over 2 centuries we thrived under this government, then different ideologies began to affect our nation and we started making some really bad decisions.
VI. America in Decline
Eph 6:12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
We don't fight against flesh and blood - but governing spirits over nations
They have an agenda
What is the demonic Agenda
1. Killing
2. Perversion
3. Deception
4. Bondage
5. Sin
6. Atheism and rebellion toward God
We can see the effects of the Dark Kingdom on our nation over the last 50 to 60 years and the changes that have happened.
June 25, 1962 this Prayer was removed from our schools
"Almighty God, we acknowledge our dependence on Thee and beg Thy blessing over us, our parents, our teachers, and our nation."
June 25th, 1963 the bible was taken out of our schools.
What was the Effect of removing God from our Schools:
Remove the fear of God from the human heart, whitewash the reality that, sooner or later, all of us will answer to a supremely moral Being, eliminate the concept that He demands adherence to His laws and it is but a short step to the deterioration of the cornerstone of society… The Family.
With the fear of God done away with there is no longer any reason to treat the marriage vows as sacred, to bring up God-fearing children.
From there it is an even shorter step to all the other sinister and evil circumstances we find ourselves in today…. Teen pregnancies, violent crime, suicide, drugs and alcohol abuse are the very logical fruits of a society that has forgotten that He is a God of wrath.
A. Young People
1. For 15 years before 1963 pregnancies in girls ages 15 through 19 years had been no more than 15 per thousand. After 1963 pregnancies increased 187% in the next 15 years.
2. For younger girls, ages 10 to 14 years, pregnancies since 1963 are up 553%.
3. Before 1963 sexually transmitted diseases among students were 400 per 100,000. Since 1963, they were up 226% in the next 12 years.
B. The Family
1. Before 1963 divorce rates had been declining for 15 years. After 1963 divorces increased 300% each year for the next 15 years.
2. Since 1963 unmarried people living together is up 353%
3. Since 1963 single parent families are up 140%.
4. Since 1963 single parent families with children are up 160%.
5. Same Sex marriage was passed as law in 2015
C. Education
1. The educational standard of measure has been the SAT scores. SAT scores had been steady for many years before 1963. From 1963 they rapidly declined for 18 consecutive years, even though the same test has been used since 1941.
D. The Nation
1. Since 1963 violent crime has increased 544%.
3. Illegal drugs have become an enormous & uncontrollable problem.
2. The nation has been deprived of an estimated 58,586,000 citizens through legal abortions just since 1973.
Planned Parenthood was formed by Margaret Sanger:

VII. What must we do to save this nation
2Co 10:3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. 2Co 10:4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 2Co 10:5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 2Co 10:6 and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.
If Americans truly want the Republic that their forefathers bled for, they must educate themselves on what the Founding Fathers wanted for America and fight to restore that vision through strict adherence and respect for the Constitution.
They must stop trading liberty for security.
They must stop thinking the role of the government is to be involved in all aspects of their lives.
They must take a good look at what the proper role of government is.
They must understand that as government expands, liberty contracts.
That government is best, which governs least.
Thomas Jefferson, a true literary warrior for American liberty, stated:
"I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them."
For Christians, voting is a form of stewardship.
Luke 19:13 -- "Occupy till I come" -- Whether or not we're living in the End Times is irrelevant.
